Plan (Activity)
a. Introduction and Warm-Up Stretch - 5 minutes
i. Welcome to my Yoga and Mindfulness class! My name is Gia and I am excited to
be teaching the class. Today, we will be doing a total mind, body, and soul
cleanse involving a warm-up stretch, yoga session, and short mindfulness
affirmation session to end off.
Have students grab mats so that they are comfortable.
Stretch Session
Reach to right side with legs spread apart (20 seconds)
Reach to left side with legs spread apart (20 seconds)
Reach to the middle with legs spread apart (20 seconds)
Pike stretch (30 seconds)
Pike position doing flex and points with feet (30 seconds)
Right lunge (30 seconds)
Put right leg straight back from lunge (30 seconds)
Left lunge (30 seconds)
Put left leg straight back from lunge (30 seconds)
Right arm stretch front + back (30 seconds)
Left arm stretch front + back (30 seconds)
b. Yoga Session - 10 minutes

c. Partner Yoga Sculptures - 10 minutes
Students will be asked to grab a partner and find a clear space on the floor where
they have enough space to work with one another.
They will be asked to create “yoga sculptures" in ten minutes with their bodies,
using each other for support and balance.
A slide will be placed on screen for inspiration on different poses. However,
creativity will be encouraged. Students will be reminded to communicate with each other and work together to form each sculpture.
Students will have five minutes to form the sculpture and the other 5 minutes to show the class.

a. Informal assessments will be given to the class by giving positive reinforcements and positive affirmations/reassurances.
7. Homework (.5 pt)
a. Encourage students to integrate yoga and small mindfulness sessions of 2-3 minutes into their daily schedules.
8. Careers Skills Learned (1 bonus pt)
a. The yoga portion of the class teaches students how to focus and hone in on skills which can be applied to many different careers. Additionally, the partner work helps students develop communication and teamwork skills which will most definitely be used in all careers. Lastly, the mindfulness affirmation session helps students to slow down during stressful times and encourages a positive attitude that helps with self-esteem in their career goals.
