Teaching Philosophy Statement
Teaching Philosophy Statement
- As a dance teacher (specifically high school), my philosophy will be focused on creating an inclusive environment where students can explore their creativity, develop new skills, and learn to appreciate the art of dance. Growing up as a dancer for years, I believe that dance has the power to be used therapeutically. For me, it is a fun way of showing self-expression, builds confidence, and allows you to understand other cultures better. My approach will use group and individualized instruction that is tailored to the students' levels of dance/abilities and interests, while also promoting discipline and respect within the classroom. Through a balance of technique, choreography, and performance opportunities, I aim to inspire students to discover their unique passions as dancers and for them to develop a better connection to themselves, their classmates, and community through dancing. My effectiveness will be measured based on the new skills that they learn at the end of the semester and whether or not they have a good time during class.
